Dylan on their ITNW Tokyo Dome performance – “The girls start out standing
with an obvious space in the center. I saw that as Jessica’s space. The
space is there for awhile, but then halfway through the song, the girls
come together, closing the gap. They then grab hands and finish the song
together. This performance for me was Girls’ Generation’s first official
performance as an 8 member group, acknowledging that Jessica is no longer
there and it won’t ever be the same, but not letting that be the end of
Girls’ Generation. Not letting that be the end of the journey, starting a
new chapter as 8. I thought it was absolutely incredible, I thought it was
beautiful. You can interpret the performance anyway you want, but that’s
just what I saw and I wanted to share that with you guys.”

Thanks for sharing that with us Dylan :-)

Cheyenne Kemp says:

I cried so hard watching all the fancams, I swear I used like half of a
tissue box just for this one song. I totally agree with you about Jessica’s
spot though.

meeshmeeshsun says:

I agree especially Sunny crying really hard too, I almost cried but was a
little teary eyed. But ever since the new fancams came out of SNSD, theirs
always Jessica’s voice in the playing when ever someone else has her part,
like its engraved in my brain for all the members too! (even the adlibbing)
is that normal for a fan??

Lucy Jane says:

My thoughts exactly :) It’s like that rendition on ITNW was their way of
saying goodbye and closing the gap halfway though was them signalling the
end of an amazing era. A tribute to OT9 and the welcoming of OT8… into
the next new world.
FYI… I cried too! :’(

Camila Fernandez says:

I hate that all the comments in the video performance are about the hate
against SME. The truth is that we don’t even know half of what happened,
therefore we don’t have the privilege to judge or make conclusions about
it. It’s simple, support all of them or not support them at all.

Katie Vz says:

To be very honest, your thoughts are exactly my thoughts about the
performance, and that performance wasn’t just a performance, it was THE
performance of that concert, the highest moment at Tokyo Dome. A lot of
stuff was going on in our and their minds. That space in the center, I
immediately thought of Jessica. And when they got close I was like ‘oh
no…..’ I thought to myself, ‘This is it, we have to move on, it’s time,
they’re obviously telling us everything right now, there’s no need for
words’. And seeing them crying just broke my heart into million pieces and
broke me down into tears. I don’t even know what to say anymore. All I know
is that, my love for them is not going to change independently how many
members there are in the group. I learned how to love the group itself, the
nine together, that’s why it’s hard to move on, it’s hard to accept, but I
also learned how to love each one of them, individually. That’s why no
matter what, I will always love, support & respect those 9 girls.

dontcare01019 says:

Just watched it and….my heart broke for all of them, for the SONE
everywhere, and for Jessica. I agree with your interpretation Dylan. In all
honesty, I don’t know quite yet if I’m READY to move onto an SNSD without
Jessica. But like some other people have said, I love all of these girls so
much. Each one of them is so dear to me, I could never bring myself to
desert them, though my heart is going to ache for a very long time. But the
best we can do is support the new OT8.
Oh also. Sunny crying absolutely destroyed me.

Kimberli marquez says:

The ITNW performance was beyond beautiful, I’m glad sones around the world
connected to the girls and the performance. It’s not the end, it’s the
beginning of how snsd is gonna close a beautiful girls’ generation era
(there’s gonna be a day when they will retire, let’s accept it) along with
sones by their side <3

Soneiopeia says:

Still hurt ╥﹏╥ still crying and still wishing the best of SNSD

Helena Nguyen says:

OMG what you spoke is what was in my mind
Me, too. I thought my tears has all dried out but still, i cried like a
baby while watching ITNW, totally in love with the “saranghae” part .. my
feeling is exactly the same as you. This perform in is like a tribute to
OT9.

StephyNyan says:

I cried so much but their voices are so beautiful singing “sarangae”-
(sorry however you spell it) >_< Dylan what were your thoughts on their
Divine performance? I couldn’t stop crying when Tiffany tried to sing
Jessica’s high part :(

Madalen Klare says:

I honestly didn’t think I was going to cry as much as I did. I haven’t been
a SONE for very long, and I didn’t listen to this song for awhile even as I
was becoming a fan. But it was such a great performance, such a great song,
and I really appreciate your interpretation of its meaning. That was HEAVY!

kingdomfireguy247 says:

idk… that performance made it seem like Jessica left on her own accord
(when we all know she didn’t). Also, i would like a statement from the
girls.

Nessa Crafting says:

When they sang itnw I cried so much…i couldn’t handle the girls’ tears.
When they came into the circle, I couldn’t breathe :( I’ll always love them
and I’ll forever support all 9

Brandon Coyle says:

It was a powerful performance, but I’m happy the girls are okay and have
accepted Jessicas departure in a graceful way.

John Reyes says:

omg the into the new world performance. :(

Goguma love 〈3 says:

nothing l says:

Goguma love 〈3 says:

I CRIE EVERYTIME

mccuish1525 says:

Just the way they performed INTW got me all teary eyed and I rarely ever
get teary eyed.

jade washere64 says:

It was such a beautiful concert. Yet it was still very sad. And of course
it felt like a part was missing. But. They did a terrific job. I must say.
Though I didn’t like Tiffany singing Jessica’s bit in divine. It sounded
terrible in my opinion. Sorry Tiffany,

jade washere64 says:

Wow. I didn’t notice that in the ITNW fancam. Now that you’ve brought it to
my attention. It saddens me. But I agree. It’s beautiful. Or at least. It’s
beautiful to interpret it in that way. It feels as if They’re saying “We
haven’t forgotten. But we can move on”. I choose to interpret it in that
way. I wish the best for all 9 of the girls.

sally fox says:

I wouldn’t agree. Imo, it was very forced and very deliberate. Actually
being given the courtesy of a ‘truthful statement’, after supporting and
raising these girls up is what is deserved, though we are not valued or
respected enough for that.
